I’ve recently been thinking about different resources that I use in work as an archaeologist and how they could be useful in games.
I guess these are mostly pretty specific to Ireland but I’m curious if other people have archives/collections/databases that they use.
Ordnance Survey historic maps: http://map.geohive.ie/mapviewer.html
Excavations Database: https://excavations.ie/
Historic Environment Viewer: https://webgis.archaeology.ie/historicenvironment/
Old Maps Online: https://www.oldmapsonline.org/
Down Survey Maps: http://downsurvey.tcd.ie/down-survey-maps.php
National Archives: https://www.nationalarchives.ie/our-archives/explore-our-collections/
National Library: http://catalogue.nli.ie/Browse/Home
Dublin City Libraries: http://www.dublincity.ie/main-menu-services-recreation-culture-dublin-city-public-libraries-and-archive/heritage-and-history
Historic Towns Atlas: https://www.ria.ie/research-projects/irish-historic-towns-atlas
Most of these aren’t great for browsing, unless you’re looking for something specific, but they could be useful as prompts for names, places etc.
The National Folklore Collection, however, always delivers the goods https://www.duchas.ie/en
Tell me that this isn’t a Trophy Gold incursion:
