Tales from the Low Cantrefs: The Path Unwinding

The village elders tell you not to go anywhere near the old standing stones, saying they are a site of Sorcery and a beacon to the Dead… but something about the stones seems to call to you and your friends. After all, how are you supposed to grow up without at least a little adventure?

Tales from the Low Cantrefs is a hearth fantasy coming-of-age roleplaying game built on the Apocalypse World engine. It is a game filled with petty village politics, childhood superstitions, adults who just don’t understand, strange magics, wild and ruined landscapes, monsters out of old folktales, and the terrible responsibility of growing up.

The game is currently in-development. We’ll be using the playtest packet and sending feedback to Luke Jordan, the designer.

Aiming for a tale of young people exploring a rich and sometimes scary world, rated PG-13.

Tales from the Low Cantrefs: The Path Unwinding (Session 1/4)

Starring: Rosamund H, @inarvan, @DavidMorrison, and @dan

We create our protagonists and the village they live in, with its festivals, superstitions, and values. Then Luned the Bell leads her peers to an abandoned, crumbling tower in search of a lost younger sister. Ruga the Blade confronts a Beast the likes of which she’s never seen. Gwyn the Door feels the chill of Death. And Barrow the Loom saves the day with an unexpected (but also unexpectedly costly) item of provision.
